Autism is a spectrum disorder that affects communication and social behaviour. Though its causes are unclear, researchers recognize its possible genetic and environmental components. Early detection and developing treatment programs can improve the quality of life of people with ASD. There is still much to learn about Autism, but with continued research, doctors and experts aim to improve the lives of individuals living with the condition.

Experts are yet to identify the exact causes of Autism. However, it is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Researchers have suggested that a number of genes inherited from parents predispose a child to develop Autism, but it is not the only cause.

Pregnancy-related factors such as Familial Advanced Maternal and Paternal Age, Maternal Infection During Pregnancy, and an Enhanced Response to Immune Activation (ERIA) could also play a role in the development of Autism.
There is no evidence to suggest that experiencing trauma or stress during pregnancy will cause a child to develop autism. While there are biological and genetic factors that contribute to the development of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), research has not found any specific prenatal event or environmental factor that is a direct cause of autism.

Some studies have suggested a link between maternal stress and certain pregnancy complications and an increased risk of autism. However, the evidence is still mixed and more research is needed to fully understand any potential connection.
